Maker Club(s)
Jr. Maker Club (grades 4-5) | Maker Club (grades 5 - 9)
Maker Club offers students the opportunity to spend an afternoon exploring both low- and high-tech tools in our makerspace. Participants engage with materials like cardboard, 3D design, crocheting amigurumi, laser cutting, screen printing, duct tape, virtual reality, and more. The club fosters a collaborative, student-directed environment where learning happens through hands-on creation, documenting new processes, visiting local makers, and preparing for public events. Maker Club is most suitable for students who are able to (or open to developing their ability to) tolerate frustration, show initiative in finding projects, collaborate with peers, and respect the space under limited supervision. Active making and learning are key, as passive media consumption (e.g., memes and video games) is discouraged.
